Problem, solution & difficulties
Our problem is that the North Curl Curl rock pool is the only pool on the whole of the Northern Beaches not being cleaned. Before we started this project we knew a bit about this issue because we all have swam at this pool and noticed sharp and slimy things on the bottom. We do have personal experience with this problem, which gave us more reason to fix it.
At first we had to think of solutions, which was tricky because of the hard access. This is the reason that council doesn’t clean it at the moment, but we decided to look further into it and find a solution. So first we researched how other rock pools get cleaned and why north Curl Curl doesn’t. To find our final solution we also looked at benefits the solutions would bring aside from a clean rock pool. That is how we ended up choosing a boardwalk from the beach to the rock pool because not only would this mean easy access for machines needed to clean but also better access for the general public and people unable to go along the rocks or the long way round like people in wheelchairs, elderly people and pregnant women. A big issue during this process was time management, during class we had to work effectively although sometimes we got off track and that resulted in wasted time. Overall we’re very proud of what we have created although there were some hiccups we managed to finish it on time and not in too much of a rush. Thank you! Jacqui, Maddy, Amelia and Mia |
